Printed in-house on archival Museum Heritage 310gssm paper using ultrachrome inks, this original black & white print has been digitally coloured by our in-house artist.  What is now known as Warden's Lodge was originally built for the headmaster of Daventry Endowed Grammar School in 1888. In 1740, William Sawbridge left a sum of money for the purchase of a house for the head master; the new house was known as the Warden's Lodge and is a structure of brick in the Jacobean style, from designs by Mr. N. M. Brown A.R.I.B.A. and included a lofty dining hall  with new chemical laboratories opening in 1905 to replace the old school laboratory, in New Street. Wardens's Lodge has now been subdivided into several private apartments/houses.
